Essential oils for foot and leg wellness

When we sit for long periods of time, or we don’t have the ability to walk, we need help for our feet and our legs, which probably suffer from some lymphatic and venous stasis.

Let’s see which home-made recipes to restore well-being to our body.

Let’s start from the feet. It is possible to prepare a self-massage oil, which is stimulating for the circulation, and which gives us a feeling of lightness and relaxation. Often the skin of the feet is quite dry, so we use:

In 30 ml of apricot kernel oil (or sweet almond oil)

3 drops of peppermint essential oil (Peppermint);

3 drops of cypress essential oil (Cupressus sempervirens);

3 drops of true lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia)

With 30 ml of product we could massage our feet several times. This recipe contains both stimulating and refreshing oils (mint), both oils that stimulate venous return (cypress), and the anti-inflammatory and relaxing aspect (lavender). A real relief!

Clearly when we massage our feet we can bring the oil up to the knees, so as to benefit the whole lower leg. If we suffer from muscle cramps in the calf, let’s add a few more drops of Lavender essential oil, which will help us.

A simple practice to reactivate the legs are also the shower heads, that is to use cold water for simple quick shower, and possibly alternate short cold shower with warm warm shower, remembering that you always end up with fresh shower. This practice reactivates the circulation, in general it leaves us feeling tonic.

To prepare a gel to be spread on the entire surface of the legs, we could use aloe gel and pour:

in 30 ml of gel:

3 drops of peppermint essential oil (Peppermint);

5 drops of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis camphor chemotype)

2 drops of lemon (Citrus limon)

This pleasant gel gives tone, freshness and perfume to our legs, reactivating them, helping to dissolve cellulite deposits, and restoring a sense of vitality and circulation.

If we do not have essential oils, a simple practice can be to prepare an infusion and then pour it in a container of warm water to prepare a foot bath.

Heat water up to 80 degrees, as you would do to prepare a herbal tea. Dip a sprig of rosemary and a few mint leaves. Leave them to infuse for ten minutes, and then filter. The aromatic water that you now have available can be poured into a container with warm water where you will then dip your feet for about ten minutes. The water must not burn.

I remind everyone that stimulating essential oils are not recommended in pregnancy and particularly within the third month.
