Women faces fragrance and exhibition, 2024

I am happy to present to you the botanical perfume I created for the exhibition ‘Women faces’, currently taking place in Piran and which will be taken to Trieste, Grado (GO) and Turriaco (GO).

The ‘Women faces’ exhibition presents the works of four artists exploring femininity in all its facets. Inspired by this celebration of sensitivity and intimate personal expression, I wanted to create a perfume that captured the essence of femininity in some of its facets.

The four artists are Armando Depetris, Cristiano Vernole, Martina Michelin and Tiziana Millo. The exhibition is assisted by two artistic contributions: that of Gabriele D’Alonzo, who composed an ad hoc musical piece, and mine, with an ambient perfume composed of pure essential oils, which evokes different aspects of the female inner life – sensuality, courage, hope and the ability to look forward in any situation.

My description of the perfume for the exhibition Women Faces:

‘Looking at the works of the artists selected for the exhibition, I captured different aspects of femininity: sensuality, courage, hope, and the ability to look forward in any situation. With these traces of meaning, I created a synergy of essential oils that could be diffused by evaluating both the essences and their origins; their quality and their symbolic values.
I chose Lemon for its freshness, but also because the selected essence has creamy, almost gourmand notes. In this essence, I saw the liveliness and deep wellbeing that an apparently simple perfume can give. Precisely this aspect, the apparent simplicity, seemed to me to resonate with some of the images in the exhibition, where the candour and immediacy of the images convey deep emotions. Lemon speaks to us of inspiration, of openness, of lightness, and is intended to be the opening note of the aromatic synergy designed for the exhibition.
This is followed by Lime, a citrus fruit that conveys a smile; a scent that envelops and supports that of Lemon with which it forms a pair that inspires and amuses. Lime is considered a symbol of prosperity, and in some traditions it is placed in front of the front door as an auspicious presence – which is also why I chose it for this synergy, which welcomes the visitor like a wave of well-being.
Ylang ylang, a flower with a voluptuous scent, is the heart note of this synergy.

This flower to which aphrodisiac properties are attributed has a full, intense, enveloping and relaxing scent. The variety selected for this synergy is often used for high-end perfumes, because the floral notes are fine and also recall jasmine. All the fragrance of the flower and the subtle nuances of tropical fruit remain in this essence.
As a base note, I chose Benzoin, a resinoid with an intense, full fragrance, and which gives a sense of warmth; smelling it is like being with friends around a blazing fire and it is precisely this feeling of being together, of shared warmth that I wanted to convey in the synergy for the exhibition. Benzoin draws us in with its sweet, deep aroma, with notes of vanilla. Its embrace is meant to welcome the visitor who comes to discover the works on display for Volti di Donna, expressing feminine acceptance and deep sensitivity’.

The exhibition can be visited in Piran at the House of Tartini; at the end of April it will be staged in Trieste in the Sala Veruda, and subsequently in Grado and Turriaco (GO).
Thanks to ProlocoTurriaco and Diego Fabris for this opportunity to accompany such an intense and intimate journey with fragrances.
