[Versione italiana dell’articolo: Diwali, il festival della luce]
While we welcome autumn with its warm hues, India is preparing for a festival that brings with it light, hope, and joy: Diwali, the festival of lights. Imagine streets illuminated by thousands of small flames, houses decorated with bright colors and rangoli, the traditional colored powder designs that welcome good luck and prosperity.
The intoxicating scent of incense and spicy sweets fills the air as families gather to celebrate the victory of good over evil, of light over darkness. This festival culminates between October 31st and November 1st in 2024; it actually lasts five days and the first day is October 29th, with the Dhanteras festival, which also celebrates Dhanvantari (Dhanvantari Jayanti), the deity who in myth gives Ayurveda.
Diwali is a magical moment, an opportunity to reflect, to let go of the past and embrace the future with renewed hope. It is a time of sharing, abundance and gratitude. And to make this Diwali even more special, why not let yourself be enveloped by the magic of essential oils?
I thought of two essential oils:
Sweet Orange: with its fresh, sunny and joyful scent, sweet orange essential oil brings joy and positivity, warding off negative energies and promoting conviviality. You can add a few drops to your diffuser to create a festive atmosphere, or use it to scent your desserts.
Neroli: extracted from orange flowers, Neroli essential oil has a delicate and floral aroma that instills calm and serenity, removing anxiety and worries. It is perfect for creating an atmosphere of peace and harmony during Diwali celebrations. You can diffuse a few drops of Neroli in your home, or add it to your bath water (pouring a drop into a tablespoon of coarse salt) for a moment of pure relaxation, or even use it to create a massage oil for the body.
The light of Diwali is a light of recollection, joy, and fullness. May the flames of Diwali illuminate not only your home, but also your path!
